Weather patterns
Vanuatu lies south of the Equator, so the seasons are reversed from those in the northern hemisphere. Like fishing patterns, weather will vary from year to year, and the following information should be viewed as a guideline only. Fortunately, as there are so many islands in the Vanuatu chain, a lee shore or suitably sheltered waters can usually be found during high winds or storm activity.

South-east trade winds -- June to September
Generally, south-east trade winds keep Vanuatu's climate close to ideal. Though some rain can be expected throughout the year, most falls over the months of January to April. Daytime temperatures average in the 70s to 80 degrees Fahrenheit (21-32 degrees Centigrade). Nights: 60s to70s Fahrenheit (15-27 Centigrade)

Cyclone Season -- January to March
Historically, the northern islands of the Vanuatu chain are most affected by cyclone activity. In general, calm seas and hot, humid days are experienced at this time of year.
