Over the best part of two decades, world-renowned angler and guide Dean Butler
has traveled the world, always at the cutting edge of sport, game and saltwater
fly fishing. In that time, many of his angling innovations and tackle
refinements have become standards of the sport.
A multiple IGFA world record holder himself, Butler's clients have been guided
to more than 30 IGFA world records in ultra-light and saltwater fly fishing
categories. Six of these records were taken in Vanuatu waters in his first two
years' work here
Butler rates Vanuatu among the very best all-round blue water destinations in
the world. To help realize the nation's vast, untapped fishing potential, he
has worked closely with South Pacific Anglers and Kahuna Charters to guarantee
that world class fishing is experienced with world class equipment and crews.

Captain Charles Wheeler has traveled to most of the world's major marlin
fisheries in the quest of mighty blue marlin, and in his work in Kenya in
recent years, he was among the pioneers of deep trolling techniques for
broadbill sword fish. When he first visited Vanuatu as an angler in 2001
Wheeler caught five blue marlin, a tally that inspired the English-born captain
to up stakes from his work in Kenya and become a part of what he knew to be an
amazing new fishery.
Kahuna Charters' purpose built sport fisher Nevagivup is under his charge. This
expertly crewed and equipped fishing machine is an ideal vessel to take on any
or all of the exciting species the South Pacific has to offer.

Flash, started gamefishing on the east coast of Australia back in 1986. In 1990 he spent his first year as crew on the giant black marlin grounds off Cairns and has fished there every season, either as captain or crew since then. Between Cairns seasons he travelled extensively around the world working in Florida, Mexico, Bahamas and Kona . During the mid 90’s he spent 18 months working as number one mate on board the famous French Look mother ship/ game boat operation, record hunting in Panama, French Polynesia, Fiji, Cairns and Hawaii.
Like all involved with the Kahuna Charters team he sees the unlimited potential of Vanuatu and its fishery and is looking forward to using his wealth of experience to help prove just how good the area actually is.
